Emily & Sam – Merewood Hotel wedding, Windermere

Bride and groom cuddle in front of snowy scene, Merewood House hotel weddings, Windermere, Lake District

It was the start of December and a very snowy morning when we headed off to Merewood House Hotel in Windermere for Emily & Sam’s wedding.

We finally managed to get there through a bit of a tricky drive around abandoned cars – the first time we have seen so much snow in the lakes before. Merewood House looks amazing all year around but around Christmas it takes on such a cosy feel with roaring fires and twinkling lights. The snow added the finishing touch to a special elopement wedding.

Emily and Sam had travelled up from Manchester to get married. Despite their children not being there Emily had their initials on her necklace and their names as flowers in her bouquet which was a lovely touch.

I met Emily in her room where we looked out on the snowy fells, before taking some pictures on the stunning staircase before the ceremony. The service was lovely and personal, Cumbria Registration service as per usual were fab and staff from the hotel acted as witnesses.

After the ceremony it was time for some prosecco and braving the cold air outside for photos. The happy couple wandered the grounds of the hotel and even had a little snowball fight with us before poor Emily couldn’t feel her toes anymore so headed inside to warm up!

I love intimate elopement weddings. We filmed their day as well as photographed it, a perfect memento to remember a special few days in the Lakes. We wish you both much love and happiness for the future and enjoy your trip to Disney!
