When Gareth contacted me to find the best place to propose in the Lake District I had plenty of ideas for him.

Friar’s Crag in Keswick with it’s amazing views of Derwentwater appealed to him and the only issue is that it is a notoriously busy spot, not the best place for an intimate proposal if there is someone sitting on the bench next to you! That is why the earlier in the day the better, especially if you feel your girlfriend would be embarrassed with people watching you!

I hid out earlier to get the best views and to keep an eye on whether any passing tourists were perched on the bench, eventually our moment came and I managed to capture the proposal right at the edge of the viewpoint. It was a lovely day too which makes all the difference!

After passing on my congratulations we had chance for some photos around the crag itself before walking along to the lake and the jetties. I always love to capture these moments, it feels like such a special priviledge to be involved in the planning and the excitement and of course I absolutely love to feel like a photography ninja hiding in the bushes or pretending to be a tourist!

If you are planning a proposal in the Lake District drop us a message, I can advise an all the best spots to head to and give you tips for the best time to go for.
