Rose Castle on the outskirts of Carlisle is a stunning location for a wedding with amazing grounds. It was our first time photographing there for Claire and David’s wedding and it didn’t disappoint.

We arrived in torrential rain – not what you would expect for June, however we do live in Cumbria and it does rain a lot! Claire and her team of bridesmaids were all excitedly getting ready upstairs whilst the men were nearby getting ready too. I love the colours of the flowers and the bridesmaids dresses. Claire looked amazing in her gown.

The ceremony took place in the chapel in the castle which is a lovely grand room, perfect for a dramatic entrance! The ceremony was lovely with lots of laughter and emotions.

Afterwards we headed to the reception room for drinks and a chance for mingling, we kept a close eye on the weather and when we saw a break in the rain we quickly headed outside for some photographs in the grounds. Always worth doing when they are so stunning and you are brave enough for the weather!

Fortunately for us the rain didn’t start again until we had finished the family portraits – phew! The guests then headed inside, they could have a little portrait done by an artist and there was a treasure hunt for the kids too which they loved and a great idea.

The meal looked very tasty with a buffet provided and lots of tasty looking sweet treats too. In the evening there was a fab band who kicked off the first dance where everyone piled onto the dancefloor for a boogie!

We wish you both much love and happiness for the future.
